JOHN COCUZZI QUARTET
Sunday Evening Jazz - Red Lion Sacto. Inn
June 8, 2008 - 5-8pm

Pianist and vibraphonist John Cocuzzi
makes his first official appearance at Savanna's Sunday evening jazz. One
of John's
fellow musicians sums him up with these words: "Versatility, virtuosity and
passion:
This is what you need to know about the music of John Cocuzzi." Indeed!
Swingster John Cocuzzi
has New Orleans flavor with East Coast class, playing with passion and
intensity
on piano, vibes and drums. For more than 25 years, John has been
entertaining crowds
in the Washington, D.C. area and performing at festivals across the United
States
and in Europe. John's dynamic style and diverse rhythms bring a fresh sound
to familiar
standards. His innovation breathes new life into old tunes, from lush
ballads to
swingin' jazz and burning blues.

John has performed with some of the best musicians in jazz today: Peter
Appleyard,
Warren Vaché, Jr., Byron Stripling, Houston Person, Harry Allen, Ken
Peplowski, Scott
Robinson, Wycliffe Gordon, Howard Alden, John Pizzarelli and many others.

Last October, John relocated to the Sacramento area and began working with
this exceptional
quartet that features some of Sacramento's finest:
Steve Homan
 on guitar,
Shelley Denny on bass, and Vince Bartels
on drums. On June 8, John will be performing on both piano and vibes.

Please be
sure to join us, as this quartet offers the true spirit of jazz: high-energy
collective
improvisation.
