Listmates, just a quick note to let evryone know that the Bob Crsoby Bob Cats will be making an appearance at the NJ Jazzfest ( the Sanofi Aventis Festival) this Saturday from 12 noon until 2:30pm. The festival this year is being held on Satrurday and Sunday (June 7th and 8th) at Drew University in Madison, NJ, home of the famed Shanghai Jazz Club.
???? To my knowledge, no one has brought up the subject of having a F to F gathering yet.
Several of our DJML regulars will be appearing including Jim Fryer (with Cynthia Sayer) on Saturday, Mike Vax with the James Dean Big Band, plus many others not as well known outside the eastern area. The Red Lobster Big Band from "down the shore" will hold forth on Sunday - a great group. Our friend Jerry Vezza will be there with his trio on Saturday.
???? Our Bob Cats will have some nationally known players including John Allred on trombone (usually seen with the Bill Allred Classic Jazz Band), Danny Tobias on cornet (usually seen with the Midiri Brothers), Nelson Hill on tenor sax, formerly lead alto for the Maynard Ferguson band, The Metz family ryhthm section with Tim and Eddie Metz, Jr., Paul Hubbell on reeds (currently on tour with Eddie Polcer), and Spencer Reed (of Deer Head Inn fame) on guitar.
???? I sure hope to see some of you out there. The weather promises to be perfect (certainly better that we experienced last week in Sacto unfortunately) The location is cental so no excuse for driving there - you won't need too much gasoline: there's plenty of parking; three venues (two inside and one larger outdoor tent; great lineup; lots of CD sales material; food and drink selections. How about it? Let's support live jazz in the east. You don't get?that many chances!!!
???? Please stop by our venue on Saturday and say hello.
Regards, Ed Metz for the Bob Cats.
