For the complete story about the multi-talented Conrad Janis see his
web site at:

Lots to surf there from his enormous screen credits to his enormous
trad jazz career.
Be sure to see the 2002 Mississippi Rag article Jim Uhl wrote about
him. To save you the trouble of surfing for it, see;

If you read it all, note the part about how Wilbur DeParis undercut
the Janis Band at Jimmy Ryan's. Using a lot of the Janis book and
style, DeParis went on to many years of playing there. I wonder if
that wasn't a good thing for Janis as it probably motivated him to
proceed with his movie/TV career which was enormously successful.
He was a vital part of the NYC trad jazz scene in the 1950s, which
goes largely unnoticed today, even among many of the trad jazz fans.
Some of us remember you, Conrad, and we're glad you were there.
Cheers,
Steve Barbone
