Dear Kevin and Bill,
I have a somewhat different version than Bill's, viz.:
I am just a weary pilgrim
Plodding thru this land of sin;
Getting ready for that city,
When the saints come marching in.
Oh, when the saints come marching in.
Oh, when the saints some marching in.
Oh, I want to be in that number,
When the saints come marching in.
Pray each day to heaven,
For the strength to help me win,
Want to be in that procession,
When the saints come marching in.
Oh, when the saints ...
I want to join the heav'nly band,
Want to join the heav'nly band,
Want to hear the trumpets ablowing,
When the saints come marching in.
Oh, when the saints ...
I want to wear a happy smile,
Want to wear a happy smile,
Want to sing and shout "Hallelujah!"
When the saints come marching in.
Oh, when the saints ...
The melody is a variation of the second half of the refrain. I'll send the
lead sheet off line.
Kind Regards
Bob Smith
