Lots of big band experience, etc. Stints with Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman,
Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Les Brown, Count Basie, Freddie Slack, Charlie
Barnet, Shorty Rogers and about 17 other great bands.

He arranged and conducted for Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland,
Henry Mancini (he plays on the Peter Gunn albums) and others. And he worked
with Frank Sinatra a few times.

He could play way up high on the horn. He was a rival of Cat Anderson for
high note honors back in the 1940s. Listen to that register on the movie
track of West Side Story, "Dance At The Gym." Or listen to him on a mid
1950s Peggy Lee Album, playing "My Heart Belongs to Daddy".

He also married some neat ladies. Betty Hutton and Edie Adams among them.

Hell of a musician. RIP Pete.

Steve Barbone
