Dear Marek:
Here is the short version:
Sonny Bono and Cher were a married couple in Show Business who rose to
fame and fortune in the 1960s on the Pop music scene. Their act was
copied from Prima and Keely Smith. Then they divorced.
Sonny went on to become a US Congressman from Palm Springs California.
He was the person who introduced the changes to the US Copyright Law
in this country which are often the subject of threads on the DJML.
That law, now in effect, is the reason why no songs enter public
domain for the next decade or so. He died in a skiing accident in the
late 1990s.
Cher went on to become a huge presence on the world pop music scene.
She also acted in several movies, like "Moonstruck", "Witches of
Easwtick" etc. She still performs and is still fairly popular among
the younger generations even though over 60. She has won an Academy
Award, an Emmy Award, Several Golden Globe Awards and a Grammy.
Cher's recordings (including those with Sonny Bono) have sold more
than 275 million copies worldwide.
Other than that, she is a beautiful and very sexy lady at 62. Plus,
her net worth is probably over a billion dollars today.
Cheers,
