[Dixielandjazz] It's Tight Like That

In the thread about Spanish names, someone mentions "It's Tight Like  
That" and that Lil Harden Armstrong wrote it.

"It's Tight Like That"  was composed by Georgia Tom (a/k/a Thomas A.  
Dorsey), maybe with some help from Tampa Red (Hudson Woodbridge), not  
Lillian Hardin Armstrong. I think Dorsey said that it was not an  
original tune, but something that he had heard and decided to perform  
and record it to make some money.

Those who have heard the original, point to its spoken lyric style as  
early rap. That plus it sexually suggestive words. What?
Is there nothing new? <grin>

BTW: Loved the discovery of the Midnight Serenaders. There are quite a  
few "unknown" bands like that around the USA that play OKOM to general  
audiences. Check out Dee Settlemier's myspace page. She performs with  
Midnight Serenaders as well as the Sweet Hollywaiians when they come  
to Portland OR. (Sept 26)
