Sorry to nit-pick, and with apologies to Phil Wilking...
This is one of my pet peeves, using the acronym "RCA" when referring to
Victor Records.
RCA was formed in 1919, and they purchased Victor Records (aka, Victor
Talking Machine Company) in 1929. Therefore, to be historically
accurate, the company shouldn't be referred to as RCA unless the subject
is after 1929, since prior to that they were two separate companies.
The lawsuit regarding the ODJB and Joe Jordan (composer of "That Teasin'
Rag") involved the Victor Talking Machine Company, and resulted in a
change to the title of their first Victor release of "Dixie Jass Band
One-Step" to "Dixie Jass Band One-Step, introducing 'That Teasin' Rag'".
The ODJB didn't lose their contract over it, as they continued recording
for Victor through Dec. 1921 (and again starting in 1936.)
Cheers,
Chris Tyle
