Hi Pat,
We're w-a-a-a-y out of OKOM here, but The Twist was first performed by Hank
Ballard and the Midnighters in 1959. Chubby Checker's cover came a year
later and never equaled the original [in my humble opinion].

Chubby Checker, of all people, and twist dancing.>>
Why `of all people`? He was credited with inventing The Twist I thought. I
never saw anyone else doing the Twist on film and the clip of Twist again
like we did last summer seemed to be on all the time during the Twists
thankfully short reighn.
Incidentally going to an open air concert this summer featuring,Bilk , Ball,
Lyttleton. Should be interesting although having seen Acker and Humph
recently I suspect it will be an evening more of jokes than music.
Cheers
Pat
