It has been suggested by a party who shall remain nameless, and thus
shameless, that I post again after several months the simple url link to
a free, advertising supported, music download site which requires no
credit card even for verification. Just your full email address, a
password of your choice, and answer a few simple, often redundant,
questions once a month.

http://www.spiralfrog.com/

They remind you via email to re-register, which takes a short time, and
then you can again legally download a considerable amount of full tracks
and entire albums (30 second samples available for each track like most
sites before downloading them if you prefer), and continue to listen to
the old tracks.

If you do not take the time to renew, eventually your tracks will not
work, at least using Windows Media Player, who's audio format they use
instead of .mp3. Think about that statement. Be flexible on your
playback program. WMP is no longer the only one that plays windows audio
or video files.

Although many of their artist listings are independent artists you may
never have heard of, they have some of the newer recordings and videos
also, plus a large number of the old OKOM full albums or single tracks
from the better known artists. Like Bing Crosby (with his jazz friends
such as Condon and Louis for example), Count Basie, Benny Goodman,
Armstrong, etc.

Many albums give you info only. They will NOT say a download or even
samples are available. Don't be discouraged. Eventually you will find
the mother lode.

Best to use IE, but Firefox will work also with a special download.
It does use Direct X, so if you are afraid of that, never mind.

Using the search engine for even a short periods, plugging in various
artists names, will reveal a lot of different available albums that are
not readily apparent just looking at the home page listings. Those on
the home page are limited. Lots of buried treasures. The search works.

As I said the first time I posted this site, you CAN get something for
nothing except some time. Primarily meant for stateside use. Let me
know if the overseas members can also use it?

I believe artists can submit their albums for use and be paid something
at least. Do not quote me on this.

So far to the best of my knowledge I have never received any virus or
spyware from this site. Just lots of good, free music.

If you have read about this before, from me or others, why are you
reading it again? FYI only. Enjoy.
