His obit in the Washington Post gives the pronunciation as
jack-KETT.
Chicago jazz DJ Dick Buckley has also always pronounced his name
that way.
I've also always heard his first name pronounced the same as the
correct
pronunciation of the state in which I live:  ill-i-NOY.

two quite different versions of ILLINOIS JACQUET.
1. Jackay   and 2. Jacket.
Which one is most used in the USA or even better: how did Jacquet
