[Dixielandjazz] Benny Goodman Article

OK, so I have finally found time to read the article.
I have read many times about Benny's behaviour, and Avakian did
mention some of the problems in the Album notes.
Still, after all these years, the only "modern' tume on th album I
like is "Titter Pipes." I'm not too crazy about "Feathers," despite
my admiration of John Bunch's piano playing, and "Swift as the Wind"
and "Fountainebleau" make me feel the CDs have some edge ove LPs - one
can easily skip things. So perhaps it wasn't just Goodmans
predilection for "keeping the distance" - after a while he realized
that this was not what he wanted to play!
Moreover, being pretty "mouldy," I have never had any use for the Thad
Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra, and I never liked the "Mission to Moscow"
album.
Cheers
