Last month, I assembled a hand picked bunch of the finest young swing
players around. We spent a couple of wonderful days at St John’s Arts
Centre in Old Harlow, recording a new album which, I think is probably
my best session to date.

Taking the repertoire from the Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Basie,
Django Reinhardt and Gene Krupa stables, we have produced an album with
attitude aimed at both listeners and dancers.

James Evans, (clarinet and saxes), David Blenkhorn, (electric guitar),
Charles Condy, (piano) and Heather Birt, (double bass), all gave first
class performances.

James re-arranged Krupa’s Sing Sing Sing for the Quintet, which has
already received airplay in the USA, by Roger Burt on Radio WSGE in
North Carolina, before the CD has been released.

Paul Barnes (BBC Eastern Counties) Gold For Grown-ups show, played
Special Delivery Stomp from the album on Saturday. Hear the show, which
also features a lot of Boogie Woogie on the BBC’s Listen again facility.

Eleven, Frim Fram Sauce, Flyin’n Home, Vision On, One O’ Clock Jump,

Special.
