That's precisely why anyone used to this kind of work will record a few bars
into the cut, and a few bars after the cut. That leaves the editor leeway
to play around with where he will do the cut, and will not lose the
resonance of a note at the cut.
It's a good reason for using an editor/engineer that is also a musician!

Same goes for "punching in" on multitrack recordings. Any musician used to
session work will begin playing or singing way before the point of the punch
in, and will continue after the punch out, so there is continuity. It's all
in knowing the tricks of the trade.
