Following a recent research trip to the USA, I am pleased to inform you that
the website has been updated with items of great historical interest as set
out below:
Peter Hanley sends the following 3 essays on Jelly Roll Morton's close
relatives, as detailed below:
Emile Domer (a first cousin of Louise Monette, Jelly Roll Morton's mother).
This accompanies Domer's WWI Draft Registration Card.
Arthur Frank Guichard (married Jelly Roll Morton's younger sister, Frances
Mouton). This accompanies Guichard's WWI Draft Registration Card.
Edward Joseph Lamothe Jr. (Jelly Roll Morton's step brother). This
accompanies Lamothe's WWI Draft Registration Card.
Mike Meddings sends an essay on Benson Foraker Moore (better known to Morton
devotees as Benson "Froggy" Moore. This accompanies Moore's WWI Draft
Registration Card.
Prof Alan Wallace sends an obituary notice for Benson "Froggy" Moore. This
is from The Kentucky Posy, dated 16th April 1937.
Millie Gaddini sends an article titled, "Lord and Lion : Let the Records Set
the Record Straight" by John Lucas. A superb article about Willie the Lion
Smith and Jelly Roll. Courtesy of Don Marquis.
Peter Hanley has updated the details for the photograph, which features
Teenan Jones and Jelly Roll Morton in Chicago, c. 1916 during a convention
of the Elks.
