[Dixielandjazz] Is this the real deal?

At first glance, I thought it was a Basset Horn, which is a kind of  
alto clarinet, pitched a fourth lower than a Bb clarinet.
But I think the one in the clip is too small to be a Basset. I think  
it is a Saxonette, which is a variant of the clarinet, but not really  
a member of the clarinet family, though it has more in common with  
the clarinet than the saxophone. The Saxonette is pitch in C, with  
the same range as a C clarinet, and uses the Albert fingering system.  
It may have been created in France in the 1930s.
