I have seen this type of thinking throughout the Trad Jazz scene.  I'll 
never forget listening to a great! band who were reading charts.  I think it 
may have been Johnny Varro's band.

Anyway, a guy (Jazz fan) came running up and said, "They aren't playing 
Jazz, they are reading music."

Ridiculous!
