As far as I know the only time George Segal (vcl&uke) recorded with an
outfit called the Imperial Jazz Band was around 1985, on Signature BFW-40112 "A
Touch of Ragtime". The line-up varies but among the luminaries are Mel Davis &
Pee Wee Irwin tp; Warren Covington tb; Johnny Mince cl; Hank Jones, Dick
Hyman p; Bucky Pizzarelli g; John Tropea el. bass; Richard Davis b; & Ted Sommer
d. Teresa Brewer sings on several tracks.
Europe has had a number of Imperial Jazz Bands, most notably Len Beadle's
IJB of the late-1940s, and Mick Gill's IJB of the mid-1950s, plus a current
(2007) IJB - all in Britain. Sweden had an Imperial Jazz Band from 1961.
