[Dixielandjazz] Just Returned From NY

Listmates,

Been in NY for the past 6-days.  unfortunately could not get my lap top to 
connect where I was staying.  Thus could not report in.

My daughter had a party Sat night, the reason why I went.  She hired a 
4-piece Django type band led by Tom Landman, a very fine guitarist.  Two 
guitars, bass and fiddle.  The fiddle player had played with Django.

Sunday night I went to the Ear Inn and heard the Jon-Erik Kellso quartet. 
Again, with two guitars and a bass.

The bass player was Greg Cohen (SP).  I've heard him on recordings but this 
was the first time in person.  He is absolutely awesome!  One of the finest 
bass players I have ever heard.

Mon night went to Charlie O's and sat in with the Stan Rubin Jazz Band.  Dan 
Levinson was on reeds.  Some other fine musicians, but can't remember their 
names.

For anyone looking for Jazz in NY, there are two off-night places.
