I think Miles Davis said it best when he said "You know you can't play anything on the horn that Louis hasn't played- I mean even modern." Jazz existed before Louis but he was responsible for establishing the modern jazz language of today and yesterday. If that doesn't make him the greatest then I don't know what does. Mike
