[Dixielandjazz] Jams at Sacto

  There are three "official" jam sets, one each on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Round Table Pizza in Old Sac, hosted by Dr Bach and the Jazz Practitioners, the Roger Snell Quartet, and the Black Tuesday Jazz Band, respectively. The jams are well attended, particularly by upcoming youth musicians.  Many of the "older" youth musicians who are involved as counselors at the Sacramento Jazz Camp participate.  It is less of a site for the more experienced musicians to come to, although many music educators that are also in bands, make a point of being there at least one evening.  Howard Miyata and Polly Edgerton come to mind.  
   
  I'm sure there are also some unofficial jam sets.   That said, the participating musicians at this festival have a VERY long festival to deal with.  Hotels and playing locations are very spread out. Musicians more frequently sit in with one another's bands that are performing on the official schedule, if they are so inclined.  Makes it more interesting for the audience as well.
