Hi all,

After a rather lengthy leave of absence, I'm happy to be back on the list.

Today's Detroit News is featuring the second installment on the history of
Woodward Avenue (the city's main thoroughfare). This segment highlights
Woodward as Detroit's music and entertainment center, and talks about the
Graystone Ballroom (home of Jean Goldkette and the McKinney Cotton Pickers)
as well as Orchestra Hall/Paradise Theatre. There is also some info
regarding Bix's stay in Detroit.

Make sure to click on jazz historian Lars Bjorn's audio slideshow (that's
the best part).
