When I investigated this particular festival, I felt most of the things
presented were really just from their VC that they present to financial
backers.  They obviously try to show that the festival has a wide cultural
appeal.  The very powerful Caixa Catalan is a savings bank which must by law
plow a great percentage of its earnings into cultural events, and clever
folks are busy writing up appeals to get all that cash.

Therefore, I guess it is to draw more cash, rather than a concern over more
audience or tradition.
