Dear Boblynn,
Your KOM is showing!
8>)
So far as I can find, the song is called "Diamond Lil" and is currently
available on a 2005 Wounded Bird CD called 'Demon in Disguise'.
The song is a David Bromberg original and dates back to a 1972 Columbia LP
(KC 317153) of the same name, 'Demon in Disguise', which featured Jerry
Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, Keith Godchaux and Tracy Nelson.
As the titles and track order on the CD and LP are the same, I assume that
the CD is a reissue of the LP: "Hardworkin' John / Sharon / Medley Of Irish
Fiddle Tunes / Diamond Lil / Jugband Song / Demon In Disguise / Tennessee
Waltz / Mr. Bojangles / Sugar In The Gourd".
Kind regards,
Bill.
Herewith the words, which don't quite match yours.
DIAMOND LIL (David Bromberg)
More than he can lose
Now the straight life's just not your life
You can make your own rules
Shoot the dice and wear a blindfold
I see your not afraid to look the fool
A Man should never gamble
A Man should never gamble
A Man should never gamble
More than he can stand to lose
More than he can stand to lose
More than he can lose
Well I've heard ya talk of marriage
But you know you said you'ld never stop your runnin' round
You don't mind gettin' high boy
But good god comin' down
A Man should never gamble
A Man should never gamble
A Man should never gamble
More than he can stand to lose
More than he can stand to lose
More than he can lose
So sing your song and sip your champaigne
Dance your dance with diamond Lill
You don't have to pay the piper
Just have him put it on the bill
A Man should never gamble
A Man should never gamble
A Man should never gamble
More than he can stand to lose
More than he can stand to lose
More than he can lose.
Shoot the dice
