That is an inspiration. From now on, when I'm on the road and out of town
staying in Motel 6 accommodations and driving rental cars from the airport
to the gig I'll engage in a bit of "trashing."

You know . . . I'll leave the ashtrays full in the Alamo rental and maybe
leave the windshields dirty and my gum wrappers right on the floor mats!
That's the kind of wild and crazy guys we Boondockers and Cell Block 7 dudes
are! And the motel room. Hah! Wait until we check out and the maid service
finds the wastebaskets full and the toilet paper dispenser empty!

They'll not soon forget us. Hell, we make so much money on the gigs that we
just don't care . . . just as long as we're having fun and making an
impression on the guys who rent the cars and assign us to our rooms!

I'll never forget the times when we'd get high on our six pack of Coors and
play the TV past ten p.m. with the volume up to nine - man! We really know
how to live!! We always let the "little people" know that we were there.

Right on!

Subject : [Dixielandjazz] Rock Star Demands

My Daughter used to go with one of the Beastie Boys. While they had a rough
persona, that was only for show. He was a great kid. Used to stay with us.
He would go down the street to the local high-school and play basket ball
with the kids after school and they never caught on to who he was. This was
back when they were on top, one of the top Rock bands.

Anyway, I remember when they used to sit around trying to think of demands
to put on the concert promoters. I can't remember exactly what they came up
with, but it had something to do with stocking M&Ms in their dressing rooms
and demanding that a certain color be taken out.

When my daughter was under age and we had to be with her all of the time
while she was working, or doing press, (it was a state law), we were often
provided with limos. Some of the limo companies would not rent to Rock
musicians. They would get high and just for fun, hold lighter or cigarette
up against the lining of the limo and burn the whole car up -- Just for
laughs. They had so much money that they did not care.

They also used to trash hotel rooms.

I think when the musicians in the 20s and 30s were playing with the big
bands & traveling, they would have done some crazy things. But nothing like
the Rock Star (no-talents) of today.
