 A warning to everyone attending this event.
If you use the admirable public transport tram system in Budapest you must
do the following.
Buy a ticket from one of the shops selling them - they don't sell tickets on
the trams.
When on the tram you absolutely must clip your ticket in one of the machines
on the tram.
This prevents the tickets being used twice.
When I was there late last year we did not know we had to do this and were
arrested by over-officious transport police who ripped us off with a large
on the spot fine.
They failed to tell us that as pensioners we were entitled to free travel
anyway!
We did not find Budapest very welcoming but many of the central restaurants
were brilliant.
