Dear list mates,
Fellow list mate PAUL REID (pianist for Cornet Chop Suey) asked me to post
this information to the list regarding the passing of Darlene Brown; she was
killed in a car crash on Memorial Day (May 28).
Some of you knew her as a board member for the San Diego jazz club.
Darlene was also Paul Reid's first sweetheart since the passing of Paul's
wife, Virginia Reid, in Sept. 2005.
If you're in the San Diego area, maybe you can attend the memorial. If not,
then perhaps you might want to send a letter of sympathy and support to:
Paul Reid <whadayesay at webtv.net>
Paul's wife, Virginia, and then Darlene, were the best friends Paul had ever
shared his life with. You can imagine his grief. RIP Darlene.
Love and hugs,
Nancy

Dress should be as you see fit with the following in mind :
We can't predict the weather and it's an outside event. We were there on
Sunday and it was fine when the sun was out, and cool when it wasn't. We
will mostly be on grassy areas, so wear suitable shoes.
This is a celebration of a wonderful woman and keeping away from black or
funeral-type clothing is what we are hoping for. My Mom liked to dress up
with bright colors as you know, so keep that in mind. Any friends from the
Jazz or Red Hat Societies are fine to wear clothing in accordance with
their group's preference, if they desire to.
Below is the link information to our Mom's obituary and "in lieu of
flowers" information. We also invite you to visit my Mom's "guest book" (at
the link below) if you want to write a few words. (We encourage personal
rememberances if you are able to provide.)
