Floyd was directly dealing with the Nordskog family
and estate and was in a most unique position to know. He had access to full
documentation on dates and times of each recording.
After the passage of time actual dates can easily be confused. From 1949 to
1951 I played with a jazz band in the south of England. Fifty years later I
was interviewed by someone doing a history of jazz in that area. I mentioned
that when I left I was replaced by Bill Cole who later played with Ken Colyer.
"Good" the interviewer said, "I've just interviewed Bill and your stories
tally." Unfortunately it later transpired that we were both out by nearly five
years and there had been two other bass players after me!
I too have the utmost respect for the late Mr Levin and would not therefore
discount his claims.
