Classical Music and Jazz seem to have similar problems. Lack of audience.
What then, to do? Note the below about attendance at a NY Philharmonic
Orchestra Concert in Central Park, NYC. Why so many in Central Park and not
so many in their regular venues? Perhaps OKOM bands might think about
performing in similar audience inducing venues?

It was a particularly big crowd to communicate with. These outdoor summer
events are often spoiled by a torrential downpour, sweltering heat or
unseasonable cold, and the Central Park concert scheduled for last week was
rained out. But an enormous number of people (65,000, according to a police
estimate) turned out in perfect, balmy weather. The Great Lawn looked like
the beach at Coney Island on a hot Saturday, with listeners crammed onto
every inch of grass and spilling into adjoining areas.
