[Dixielandjazz] Zulu's Ball

Matty Matlock, who I stdied arranging with in the early 60's, once wrote
a four clarinet, harmonized chorus of the famous High Society clarinet
solo. He played a tape of it and it made me smile for days at the
wonderful take. But then Matty was about as good as it gets for our
tastes in witing and in playing. Never a warmer, woody sound to my ears
than his clarinet.

Cell Block 7 does one that we play off of a transcription made by a friend of mine...he copied it note for note (he said) from an Oliver recording...he gave me a cassette of the recording. It has King Oliver's cornet solo copied...mistakes and all, he said! It's a great tune if played up to speed!
