[Dixielandjazz] Garbled links

Tech talk follows. Delete unless you're vitally interested.

Dan,

The problem is that your file is HTML, but you didn't save it with an
extension of .htm or .html so a standards-compliant browser like Firefox
will only display the text (the html markup) but some browsers (like
Internet Explorer) will try rendering the markup. So if you want it to
be a web page, save it as links1.html or something similar.

My guess is that you have what is called a shell account at your ISP.
They will let you store anything you want but it is up to you to follow
internet standards. Some web servers (most of them, actually) require
you to save files in the proper place and use the proper format, but
some, like yours, don't care what you put there. But *you* should care.
Change the file name to links1.html and the problem will go away.

Hi All,
Can anyone explain why the Links page on my site reads OK in Safari
and Internet Explorer but comes up on the web as Html text when viewed
in Firefox and Netscape. What makes it weird it is composed in Netscape
and reads OK on the desktop.
  It's at: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~darnhard/Links1
