Dear Bill,
Yepp! My first recordings were made in 1955 from AM radio before the days of 
FM radio, and would you believe it,  they were three Australian programmes, 
viz.:
The Omar Khayyam Show:
"The Flying Dustmen"
"Ned Kelly"
"The Ashes"
These were recorded on a cheap tape recorder with two mono tracks.
