We say, "Original, Traditional Jazz, a. la. New Orleans".  If there remains
a puzzled look, we borrow Jim Cullum's definition of "Pre-war Jazz".  If
there are STILL puzzled looks, we say "B.E. - Before Elvis".  That usually
guarantees some level of understanding.
