Condon & McKenzie were great buddies and traveled to NYC together to seek
fame and fortune, circa 1928-29. (Bill Haesler will know the exact date)
Maybe Condon learned some of his famous one liners from McKenzie, if the
below is true;
"How long does it take for a musician to be a success?" Condon asked
McKenzie one hot and particularly bibulous night, circa 1929.
"You're nuts from the heat," the Blueblower replied, "A musician is a man
who enjoys his work. How can he be a success?"
Cheers,
Steve Barbone
"You can have tone and technique...but without originality you ain¹t really
nowhere."... Lester Young
