Hi Dave:
Nope that is not even close, this thing is a full blown Brass Sousa
with a slide trombone connected, appears as if the back of the Trombone
also is patched into the tubing of the Souza, perhaps there is a hand
controlled valve to determine whether you want to play out of the Bone
bell or the Sousa I have no idea . I'll bet Dan Augustine will fly
over there and Buy it or kill the guy and steal it for his museum if he
sees it :))
I will send you a photo off list.
Cheers,
Tom

Well, Tom
I didn't see anything exactly like what you are describing on that
link, but there is a kind of a bass trombone tuba hybrid called
cimbasso ( see http://www.jrdhome.plus.com/cimbasso.htm )
that is sort of like what you might be describing. They mostly make
an appearance at special classical performances - not a "regular"
brass instrument by a long shot! (and I don't think there has ever
been a jazz cimbassoist.)
But this may be some sort of home-brew instrument only found in
Finland - who knows!
