Thanks Bob:

Check out "Jazz Me Blues" on that site for a great rendition and Willie The
Lion on piano.

Also, "Eccentric Rag" which is great though the video is a bit dark. That's
from Condon's Club on West 3rd Street. Gene Schroeder on piano. Also this is
an example of the "Press" that Condon generated back then, a promo done
shortly after he opened his joint. (I think the Drummer is Buzzy Drootin,
not Dave Tough as the clip says.)

Brings back great memories for me as I was living in NYC back then and went
to Condon's often to hear these GREAT musicians.

I loved listening to Edmond Hall there on one night, and then going up to
Ryan's the next to hear Omer Simeon. Heaven for a wannabe clarinetist.

And Gene Schroeder was another favorite of mine. Played a two week gig with
him back in the 50s and loved it, and him. He was one of the nicest men I
ever knew, besides being a wonderful stride player. And very helpful to the
other young musicians in our band.

I wish I could "go home again" and see/hear these guys live. It was the kind
of visceral jazz that just blew me away.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
