The audience may not be large, but it is certainly affluent. If past years
are an indicator, this event will be sold out. Vince has found a NYE niche,
playing where the money is.

VINCE GIORDANO
Among the grandest New Year¹s Eve celebrations in upscale Manhattan clubs,
the Algonquin Hotel offers the most traditional, with the dance band Vince
Giordano and the Nighthawks. A passionate jazz scholar whose arrangements of
Dixieland and early jazz from late 1920s and early ¹30s are meticulous
transcriptions of original charts, Mr. Giordano and his top-notch players
are as close to the real thing as you can get short of scratchy old
recordings. And the Algonquin, with its restored vintage elegance, is the
ideal place for it. The festivities begin at 8 p.m. and continue to 2 a.m.
and include a multicourse feast and dancing in the Roundtable Room and
lobby. The guest list is limited to 100, and the $500 per-person price
includes tax and gratuity. 59 West 44th Street, Manhattan, (212) 419-9331,
