Maybe I'm not so old after all.  If I am in your audience I invite you  to 
include all of the variations that Steve identified including #13 ETC.   Just 
please not all on the same tune.  LOL   Actually some do  overly arrange and of 
course we don't need to hear every trick on every  tune.  But I would rather 
you had 8 or 9 possibilities in your bag of  tricks than to see you do a 
horns-no rhythm chorus every third tune.   And I like playing rhythm in groups that 
come up with some creative  variations.  If I'm playing and looking out at who 
is grinning and tapping  versus who is asleep I believe I have plenty of 
company in my preferences.   I will probably never forget the lady who came up to 
Larry's group after a  concert to tell the tuba player that she had never 
heard a tuba solo  before.  Now I know her memory wasn't that bad and when I think 
of what  she's been listening to week after week of scheduled entertainment 
and never a  tuba solo--well, that's SAD!
