Hi all,
I just got back from a week long ramble through New York City (and
Brooklyn) - something I found in a used book store might be of
interest to the list.
"Lost Chords - The Diverting Story of American Popular Songs" by
Gilbert Douglas was first published in 1942 and reissued in 1970 is
really interesting for those who want to know more about some of the
songs that became jazz standards (and also those that faded away.)
Totally "Non-PC" and a good read (not exactly scholarly!) - search
various used book sites - there are copies available at reasonable
prices.
