Vibraphonist, pianist John Cocuzzi will be featured at the monthly Jazz
Sunday concert of the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society, noon - 5:00 PM,
April 15, 2007.

Some hear Lionel Hampton in his vibe work; others hear Red Norvo.
Either
way, John Cocuzzi was voted #3 in the Vibraphone category (behind Peter
Appleyard and Lionel Hampton) in the Mississippi Rag's 25th anniversary poll
in
1998.

Versatility, virtuosity and passion: This is what you need to know
about the music of John Cocuzzi,² wrote Jeff Barnhart after performing ³Twin
Piano² sets with Cocuzzi at the AZ Classic Jazz Fest., where John switched
from piano to vibraphone (³vibes²) to play with Titan Hot 7, High Sierra,
and the Pieter Meijers Quartet.

Indeed, when Cocuzzi gets co-cookin¹ on a solo, tearing up the piano keys or
swinging those mallets (or drumsticks!) at dizzying speed, you¹re seeing a
master at work. Then he turns around and melts your heart with the softest,
most tender ballad.

At the 2007
Jubilee, he¹ll be on vibes with Vince Bartels¹ All-Stars (aka Migrant Jazz
Workers) that also features Eddie Higgins (p), Allan Vaché (cl), Dan Barrett
(cor), Russ Phillips (tbn), and Jennifer Leitham (b).

At the April 15 ³Jazz Sunday,² John will have strong backing from Vince
Bartels (dr), Steve Homan (gtr), and Shelley Denny (b).

opening the main stage at noon will be the great, young band, Barkin' Dawg.
Cocuzzi and company will hold forth at 1:10 PM. They will be back on stage
at 3:30 PM. At 2:30 will be a jam set of local Sacramento musicians.

As always, there will be music in three rooms, main stage, Le Cabaret and
Tailgate, throughout the afternoon.

The public is always welcome.
