Yessir. Thelonious Monk who used a lot of Sus2 chords, almost always
referred to them as a shorthand 9ths. But he wanted that particular sound in
his efforts to hit the 1 and 2 notes with different finger pressures so as
to create the illusion that he was bending a note and getting those "blue"
notes that horn players get on a tempered instrument. The note with the
lighter finger pressure would fade out before the other.
