I agree with Jim.
When I wrote about swing, I did'nt mean the style, I meant the feeling.
Take two musicians playing the same melody. Every musician will know
what is meant when you say: one of them swings, if that's the case.
Swing can't be captured on paper, it's a feeling you either have or have 
not.
I.m.o. trad jazz must swing! It's a conditio sine qua non.
