Yes it was.
Recorded in New York for Bluebird on 28 April 1940 along with:
Pennsylvania 6-5000
Bugle Call Rag (gm arr)
W.P.A.    (unissued)
Mister Meadowlark 
My Blue Heaven.
I have several of the titles from this session, but not "The Nearness of
You".
In fact, so far the only version I can find in my collection is the early
Frank Sinatra one.
