Thanks, Nancy, you were awesomely articulate about what I was dancing
around. I have yet to experience acupuncture, but have observed the results in
others plus for a time had a professional relationship with a
neurologist/psychiatrist who was an active member of whatever that national skeptics
organization is. And he regularly used acupuncture which he amplified with electrical
stimulation. The article I sent a web reference to yesterday also mentioned
biofeedback--another method that produces results in teaching the brain to
come up with some new communication pathways with the body.

I more and more look at the brain as a computer and an object that is a tool
for "mind". Mind is a much bigger more abstract concept that's both inside
cells and particles and everywhere "outside" of us. What does this have to
do with Dixieland?  Nothing, if you are playing  instruments with 4 - 8 brains;
everything if you are playing with one Mind! So why trust "it" for making
orgasmic music, but not trust it for improved physical health?

Hi everyone,

Ginny¹s care and concern for making everyone well makes her a woman after my
own heart. And she bravely brings up a good point, however unothodox: that
acupuncture can be helpful. The average neurologist does not know about the
energy pathways upon which acupuncture and acupressure are based, so they
don¹t understand how it can be helpful (and don¹t want to risk their
professional image advocating it). MDs prefer data and formal studies --
never mind the 5000 years of study by Chinese health practitioners. I¹m from
a family of many doctors, so I understand the hesitation and resistance, but
I have also studied a lot about ³energy medicine² for the past ten years,
and I¹ve seen it be extremely beneficial to myself and many others. Don¹t
knock it till you try it.

An acupuncturist would likely tell you that a dystonia patient is suffering
from energy being blocked in the area of the symptoms, and once the blockage
is opened and flowing, the symptoms go away. I myself have found that if I
do my Qigong exercises to keep the energy channels open, I have good health
and no symptoms of carpal tunnel or respiratory problems. As soon as I miss
a week of the exercises to keep the energy flowing, then my carpal tunnel
starts to come back.

If anyone is in the New England area, my cousin Virginia Doran does
acupuncture there (Connecticut) after leaving her practice in NYC where she
worked for more than 20 years on Manhattan¹s ³rich and famous.² She can be
reached at VirginiaDoran at luminousbeauty.com

Both my parents were doctors (and now two brothers are), so I do keep an
intellectual head about these things ‹ really, I do! -- but have seen and
benefited enough over the past ten years to give much credence to the
ancient Chinese study of our energy pathways as a key to our overall well
being. It¹s at least worth looking into if nothing else has worked for you.
Well wishes and the best of health to all of you!

Love and hugs,
Nancy
