Bill, I can't go much further in the discussion as I have little more to
add. However, I would like to point out that there are two types of "color"
when talking about what we hear.

I believe I have heard about the phenomenon above where people actually
perceive colors (as in red, blue, etc.) when they hear music. However, I
supposed we were discussing colors as as in tones of bright, dark, etc.

I will often ask for my mike to be eq'd to a brighter (or lighter) sound,
meaning I wish to have treble added, or some bass removed. Might even say
"take away some of the darkness, please". Those are the colors I thought we
were discussing. I will also brighten a recording up by adding treble (or
removing bass) when mastering. These are all colors to me.

"What is the difference between the "tone-color" of Eb as opposed
> to A?" you ask. To me, Eb is darker, less bright than A.

Here's another important question: what's the difference in the sound of
the word "color" when written as color or colour. Don't tell me it's in the
speakers accent, as that would be similar to saying the "color" depends on
the length of a tubing on an instrument, and you blew (pun intented) that
idea away previously! :>
