[Dixielandjazz] What Turns The Younger Audiences On?

I hear you Larry:

It's really about the same anywhere you have a major metropolis,  I 
have been to St. Louis, and Detroit, and NYC, and Cincinnati, New 
Orleans, Chicago all sides, Hunters Point, in S.F. Richmond, All parts 
of Oakland, and many just as dangerous neighborhoods all over Italy and 
Sicily, Turkey, France, and Spain,

I always believed my daddy who said:

"Boy don't worry bout it,  I f you was born to be hanged!  ain't nobody 
ever gonna shoot you dead". :))

I have not been shot yet, but I do get a bit nervous when I see a rope 
hangin' off a tree limb, even if it used to hold a kids Tire Swing :))

Brings back that fond statement by my DADDY EVERY TIME, AND A SMILE TO 
MY FACE.  :))

He also told me more than once when I WHINED  or complained about 
something that " Boy you would complain if they was to hang you with a 
NEW rope "    I quickly retorted that "You bet I would it might not 
break"  That brought a smile to his face or was it a sheepish grin ?"

    Well that is a bit slanted.  St. Louis is the only city in the US 
that does
not have a county or parish attached to it.  The surrounding area 
wasn't
counted.  I'm sure that the inner city of almost any city is pretty 
rough
and there are parts of this city I just won't go into and race has 
little to
do with it as some might think.  There are Black, White and Oriental
neighborhoods you just don't want to visit unless you have to.  It's 
what
got Gaslight Square in the 60's.

I think that if the surrounding area was counted with it's bedroom
communities (150 of them) it would be a different story.  My 
Daughter-in-law
(who lives in Germany) is terrified of the US in general and St. Louis 
in
particular because of the constant crap that is put on TV there, and 
here
too, about the US.  I guess that's the price of a free press.  Stay out 
of
North St. Louis, a few parts of S. St. Louis and all of East St. Louis, 
you
might live to be almost 30.

I would get bored if someone wasn't shooting at me.  Hey it keeps out 
the
riff raff.
