I remember hearing it,  but I'm not sure of who recorded it.  I seem to remember the lead was low-register clarinets.  The band my have been Larry Clinton, but not sure.  The don't think the recording I heard had a vocal.

With so many historical experts in this audience, I'm hoping someone can  
enlighten me on an old 78rpm recording entitled, "Celery Stalks At Midnight."  
Around 1946 I heard this record with a black male vocalist. It was  such a 
haunting rendition I've never forgotten the sounds. Anybody know about  this?
