Hi Pat-

Ole Satch caught plenty of flack, especially in his later years. from the
self-styled jazz musicians of African-American descent. They called him a "Tom"
and much worse, for his dancing and mugging on stage. Even the early Moldy
Figs were shocked when they learned that Louis was more than just a hot trumpet
player on a 78 rpm. His showmanship wasn't appreciated by many. The
original man was a lot more complex than most of us realized. Many just couldn't
accept the "diversity."
