The recordings in Boston that Windhurst did with Bechet (after Bunk got
fired) are a showcase of a young player. I couldn't agree more about his
talent.

  I couldn't agree more. I think Girard and Johnny Windhurst were two of the
really great trumpet players who left us far too soon. I'm glad I got the
chance to hear them both in person and experience the electricity they could
generate.
