A century or so ago, organs became very popular as musical instruments in
the homes of the rich. There is one at Granogue, one of the early Du Pont
mansions in Delaware. Placed in it's own "Organ Room" in the cellar, The
larger pipes extend three stories high. Heard it played once. Magnificient.

And who can forget Jimmy Smith and "Organ Grinder Swing"? Ella Fitzgerald
recorded the tune too, if memory serves me right. In the 1930s, there was
interest in jazz organ. Fats Waller learned to play organ before piano. Then
after WW 2, the Hammond popularized Jazz Organ among the modern jazzers.

A well played organ swings.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
